24, 2007- AeA, “U.S. High-Tech Industry Adds Jobs for Second Year in a
Row”
AeA, the nation’s largest trade association representing all
segments of the high-tech industry, today released its 10th anniversary Cyberstates report detailing national and state trends in high-tech employment, wages, and
other key economic factors. The report, Cyberstates 2007: A Complete State-by-State
Overview of the High-Technology Industry, covers all 50 states, the District
of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Economic-development
leaders have big hopes that North Carolina will draw biotechnology companies that
spur the economy in the 21st century. If that is going to happen, however, North
Carolina and the rest of the United States must do a better job of educating young
scientists. A recent report from Bloomberg News indicates that the biotechnology
industry is having a hard time finding the people it needs.
